Tree care by
people who love
trees first.

Cedar & Crown is a family-owned, ISA-certified tree-care company serving the greater Seattle Eastside since 2009. Three of our four arborists are ISA Board-Certified Master Arborists (PN-8241A, PN-8402A, PN-8684B) — that's less than 2% of all ISA arborists nationwide. We've cared for 4,840 properties across King and Snohomish counties in the last 16 years, and our approach is always the same: preserve first, prune conservatively, remove only when necessary. We carry $2M in general liability and full workers' comp (an industry rarity — 38% of PNW tree services don't), and every crew member is OSHA-30 and EHAP (Electrical Hazards Awareness Program) certified for utility-adjacent work.

What we do

Six services.
Nothing we don't do well.

We're tree specialists, not a landscaping company that "also does trees." If it's not on this list (mowing, pressure-washing, hardscaping, pest spraying), we'll happily refer you to a partner we trust.

Structural pruning

Long-term health pruning by ISA-certified arborists using ANSI A300 standards. We never top, never lion's-tail, never over-thin. We work to a documented 5-year pruning plan per tree. Typical mature-conifer session: 4-6 hrs, $1,240-$2,400.

Removal (only when needed)

We remove trees only after documented assessment that repair is unsafe or impossible — dead, hazard-rated, root-rot compromised, or approved in writing for construction. Full technical rigging available for trees over 100 ft. or with zero drop zones. $800-$6,800 depending on size, access, and disposal.

Stump grinding & remediation

Grinding to 12-14″ below grade (standard) or 36″ for foundation-adjacent removals. Full chip cleanup or left in place at your option. We test soil for honey fungus (Armillaria) before replanting any cleared site — a $80 step most contractors skip. $220-$640 per stump depending on size and access.

Cabling & bracing

Dynamic and static cabling (COBRA, Rigguy) to extend the life of co-dominant leaders and over-extended limbs on specimen trees. All hardware is ANSI A300-compliant stainless, inspected on a 3-year cycle. Typical installation: $380-$1,240 per tree.

24-hour storm response

Three crews on-call for windstorm and ice-load emergencies Oct-March. Average response time to King County from first call: 62 minutes. Priority given to life-safety hazards (tree on structure, tree on wire, blocked access). Storm-rate calls are billed at 1.5x standard + $340 emergency dispatch.

How a typical job works

Five steps
from call to cleanup.

01

Call or form · same day

Call (425) 555-8421 or submit the form. A Master Arborist calls back within 4 business hours. Routine estimates booked within 5-10 business days; emergencies handled same day.

02

On-site assessment · free

A Master Arborist walks your property for 45-90 minutes, takes photos, measures DBH and height, identifies species and any pathology, and discusses goals. You get a written estimate within 48 hours with itemized pricing.

03

Permit check · we handle it

Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, and Issaquah all have tree-protection ordinances. Significant trees (typically 6"+ DBH) often require a permit. We file for you at no additional cost; the municipal permit fee is passed through.

04

Scheduled work · 2-4 weeks out

A crew of 3-4 arrives at the agreed start time. We protect walkways, flower beds, and neighbor property with drop cloths and plywood. Expect noise (chainsaws, chipper) for the duration; most single-tree jobs are complete in 4-8 hours.

05

Cleanup & walkthrough

We rake every limb, blow every walkway, and load every chip. Before we leave, Magnus or Amaryllis walks the job with you and confirms your satisfaction in writing. Invoice emailed within 24 hours; net-15 terms with no early-payment discount because we don't play those games.

24-hour
storm response.

During Pacific Northwest windstorms (October through March), Cedar & Crown keeps three crews on rotating on-call duty. We prioritize: life-safety (tree on structure with occupants), then access blockage (tree on road, driveway), then utility-adjacent hazards. Average first-arrival to King County call: 62 minutes; to Snohomish County: 94 minutes. Storm-rate work is billed at 1.5× standard labor + $340 emergency dispatch — we're transparent about this because when a fir is on your living room at 2am, you deserve to know the number before we show up, not after.

  • Life-safety first: If anyone is trapped or injured, call 911 before you call us.
  • Power lines down: Stay 35 ft. away. Call Puget Sound Energy 1-888-225-5773 before us. We coordinate after PSE de-energizes.
  • Then call us at (425) 555-8421: 24/7 during storm season, human answering, no menu, no voicemail on storm calls.
