The stuff we get asked
before you call.
Do you charge extra for nights, weekends, or holidays?
No. Our rates are flat 24/7/365. The same $189 that fixes your leak at 2pm on Tuesday fixes it at 2am on Thanksgiving. We think after-hours surcharges punish customers for things they can't control (burst pipes don't wait until Monday), so we don't do them.
Is there a diagnostic or trip fee?
There's no separate diagnostic fee. Our minimum service call is $148, which covers the first hour and any diagnostic work. If we do the job, that $148 goes toward the total. If we can't do it for any reason (wrong permit, part not in stock, we're not licensed for it), we'll refund the fee and name two shops who can.
Are you really licensed and insured? Can I see it?
MN Master Plumber PM0079 (Ray Northgate), MN Shop License PM012-4821 (Northgate LLC), $2M general liability + $1M auto through West Bend Mutual. We'll email the certificates before a job if you'd like. We're also members of PHCC-MN (Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors of MN) since 2009.
How fast can you actually get here?
Metro Minneapolis average in 2025: 38 minutes. St. Paul and eastern suburbs: 47 minutes. Emergency calls (no heat, burst pipe, sewage backup): we prioritize to 22-minute average. We'll give you a real ETA on the phone — not a 4-hour window — and text you when the tech is 10 minutes out.
What warranty do you offer?
90 days on all workmanship. 1 year parts & labor on most repairs. 6 years parts & labor on water-heater installs (extended to 12 years on Rheem Professional and Navien premium models). Our warranty is with us, not the manufacturer — that means if it fails, you call us, we come out, we fix it, no arguing with a phone tree in Ohio.
Do you work with home warranties or insurance?
We work with insurance claims for water damage (we're a preferred vendor for State Farm and American Family in the Twin Cities). We do NOT work with third-party home-warranty companies (American Home Shield, Choice, etc.) — their rate structures force us to cut corners, which we refuse to do. You can pay us directly and submit for reimbursement yourself; we'll itemize the invoice to help.
