Stoneware
from a quiet
room in Grünerløkka.

Small-batch, wheel-thrown, salt-kiln stoneware made by Ingrid Aarseth and two apprentices in a converted print-works on Markveien. Every piece passes through four hands before it leaves the studio. No two are identical. We make 842 pieces a year.

THE MAKERS

Ingrid, Lena, and Bram.

Ingrid Aarseth founded Clayroom in 2014 after nine years at Porzellanmanufaktur Nymphenburg in Munich. The studio is on the top floor of a former print-works on Markveien 58. It has north light, two Shimpo wheels, a Skutt kiln, a very patient cat called Sigrid, and, on Fridays, the smell of freshly baked bread from the bakery two floors down.

Ingrid throws Mondays & Tuesdays. Lena Wold (apprentice since 2021) throws Wednesdays. Bram Jensen (apprentice since 2024) glazes and wraps. Every piece carries the initials of the person who shaped it, and I.A. on the foot.
